Meredith Bragg has released another single off of his forthcoming album, Nest, which will be released via The Kora Records on July 19.
“Second Golden Age,” (stream/download link below) is the first song on the upcoming LP and follows up lead single “Birds of North America.”
Bragg was inspired by John James Audubon and “The Last Hours of Brunelleschi” (Renaissance architecture) while making Nest, but nothing created more of an impression on his mind than the recent birth of his daughter, which is why themes of parenthood are apparent throughout the album.
“Everything changes,” said the singer during an interview with Paste. “Everything shifts and perspectives change and you have to figure out a way to tackle that with your lyrics. That was an important thing to me. Trying to figure out how to not ignore it, because that seemed false. But at the same time, to deal with fatherhood in a way that wouldn’t seem saccharine. I didn’t want to make a children’s record. I wanted to make a record that sort of dealt with the idea of what I was going through for the past two years.”
