Swedish singer Lykke Li will release her sophomore effort, Wounded Rhymes, on March 1, 2011 via her label LL Recordings. She reportedly linked up with Bjorn Yttling of Peter, Bjorn & John for Wounded Rhymes and together they recorded it in Stockholm. The LP will serve as a follow-up to her critically praised debut, Youth Novels.
Talking with Pitchfork, Lykke Li described the sound of the forthcoming album as “darker” and said that even “the lyrics are heavier.”
“There’s less atmosphere, more directness,” she said. “I was 19 when I recorded my first album, and I’ve been exposed to many things during these last few years; all the baby fat is gone. I dove into the craziness and did things I would think twice about when I get older.”
Later adding, “Because you’re a woman, the music industry puts you in another corner. I want to be fighting with the men. I want to be amongst the men, topless, throwing things onstage.”
In support of the LP, she will also head out on a tour across North America starting in May. Check out the tracklisting for the album below!
